Getting Started
Creating an Account
- Go to the Manual Manager signup page
- Enter your email address
- Create a password (minimum 8 characters)
- Verify your email address by clicking the link sent to your inbox
- Complete your profile setup

- Go to the Manual Manager login page
- Enter your email and password
- Click "Sign In"
First Steps
After logging in for the first time:
- Upload a few PDF files to get started
- Organize them into folders

Uploading Files
Uploading Individual Files
- Navigate to the Sync tab
- Click "Upload Files" or drag and drop files into the upload area
- Select one or more PDF files from your computer
- Wait for the files to be processed (you'll see a progress indicator)
- Files will appear in the Folders tab once indexed
Supported File Types:
- PDF files (.pdf)
- Text files (.txt)
- Word documents (.docx, .doc)
Note: Scanned PDFs (image-based) require OCR processing and may not be searchable immediately.
Uploading to a Specific Folder
- Navigate to the folder where you want to upload files
- Click "Upload Files" in that folder
- Select your files
- Files will be added to that folder
Organizing Files
Creating Folders
Folders are created automatically when you:
- Upload files with folder structure (e.g., "FolderName/file.pdf")
- Sync from cloud storage with folder structure
- Upload files to a category/folder name
Renaming Folders
- Navigate to the Folders tab
- Hover over the folder you want to rename
- Click the pencil icon (rename button) that appears
- Enter the new folder name
- Press Enter or click outside to save
Note: Renaming a folder updates all files within that folder. The folder name cannot be changed to "root".
Deleting Files
- Navigate to the Folders tab
- Find the file you want to delete
- Hover over the file
- Click the trash icon (delete button) that appears
- Confirm the deletion
⚠️ Warning:
Deleting a file permanently removes it from your account. This action cannot be undone.
Asking Questions
Basic Question Format
- Navigate to the Chat tab
- Type your question in the input box
- Press Enter or click the send button
- Wait for the AI to process your question
- Review the answer, which includes citations to source documents

Troubleshooting
Files Not Indexing
Problem: Files are uploaded but not being indexed.
Solutions:
- Check if the file is a duplicate (same name and content already exists)
- Verify the file is a text-based PDF (not scanned)
- Check your plan limits (file count or storage)
- Wait a few minutes and refresh the page
- Try uploading the file again
Questions Not Getting Answers
Problem: Questions return "no relevant information found."
Solutions:
- Make sure files are indexed (check chunk count > 0)
- Try rephrasing your question with different keywords
- Ask about a specific document or section
- Check if files are in the correct folder/category
- Verify files contain searchable text (not scanned PDFs)
Files Too Long Error
Problem: Getting error about documents being too long.

- Ask about a specific document instead of all documents
